Pupil Mapping in 2-D for High-Contrast Imaging
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pupil-mapping is a technique whereby a uniformly-illuminated input pupil, such as from starlight, can be mapped into a non-uniformly illuminated exit pupil, such that the image formed from this pupil will have suppressed sidelobes, many orders of magnitude weaker than classical Airy ring intensities. Pupil mapping is therefore a candidate technique for coronagraphic imaging of extrasolar planets around nearby stars. The pupil mapping technique is lossless, and preserves the full angular resolution of the collecting telescope, so it could possibly give the highest signal-to-noise ratio of any proposed single-telescope system for detecting extrasolar planets. We derive the 2-dimensional equations of pupil mapping for both 2-mirror and 2-lens systems. We give examples for both cases. We derive analytical estimates of aberration in a 2-mirror system, and show that the aberrations are essentially corrected with an added reversed set of mirrors. متن کاملComparison of Two Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping Measurement Methods Used For Anatomical Localization of the Iron-Incorporated Deep Brain Nuclei
Introduction Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is a new contrast mechanism in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The images produced by the QSM enable researchers and clinicians to easily localize specific structures of the brain, such as deep brain nuclei. These nuclei are targets in many clinical applications and therefore their easy localization is a must. In this study, we aimed to i...

Pupil mapping is a promising and unconventional new method for high contrast imaging being considered for terrestrial exoplanet searches. It employs two (or more) specially designed aspheric mirrors to create a high-contrast amplitude profile across the telescope pupil that does not appreciably attenuate amplitude. As such, it reaps significant benefits in light collecting efficiency and inner ...

Introduction: All of the Imaging modalities have advantages and disadvantages alone. So if we want to have the best and perfect image, combining these modalities produces something we desired. PET-MR images consist of morphologic and metabolic data. MRI and PET provide high spatial and contrast resolution and high sensitivity and molecular information respectively. Hybrid PET-...
